Jill’s Sample: A Poem about The Sequoias

A towering sequoia.

OMajestic sentinels rise from the earth

Piercing Heaven’s realm

 Gigantic trees of unknown birth

Their beauty overwhelms

Secrets kept within their boughs

Echo in their silence

A soul can’t help but yearn to know

Who else has been in their presence?

Did ancient villagers find refuge here,

From the wind and sun?

Did mighty warriors, their horses steer

When these giants were still young?

A waxing moon peers through their branches

A game of hide and seek

I gaze and wonder at the chances

That I might get a peek.
